The Opportunity
Cave Hill Cemetery is looking for a hardworking and detail-oriented Horticulture Technician to join our grounds care team. In this role, you will work directly with a Horticulture Specialist to maintain our historic, park-like landscape. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves working outdoors, and wants to grow their career in professional horticulture.
As a Technician, you are boots-on-the-ground support ensuring our gardens, burial sites, and arboretum remain a serene and beautiful sanctuary for the families we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Maintenance: Perform essential landscape tasks including hand-weeding, mulching, watering, and debris removal to keep assigned sections pristine.
Planting & Installation: Assist the Horticulture Specialist in the planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and seasonal annual displays.
Service Preparation: Ensure that areas surrounding upcoming burial services are groomed and respectful for grieving families.
Equipment Care: Safely operate utility vehicles (UTVs), blowers, string trimmers, and hand tools, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
Site Monitoring: Alert the Horticulture Specialist to any signs of plant stress, or pests, noticed during daily rounds.
Qualifications
Work Ethic: A proactive attitude and the ability to follow detailed instructions from the Horticulture Specialist.
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and walking for long periods in all weather conditions (heat, rain, or cold).
Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, lawn care, or gardening is preferred, but a strong desire to learn professional horticulture is required.
Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to work a consistent outdoor schedule.
